MyPlate for MyFamily: SNAP Nutrition Education
Adult audiences English and Spanish Four (45 min.) lessons These resources support SNAP-Ed nutrition education and obesity prevention efforts, and are based on recommendations from the Dietary Guidelines for Americans. Parents and caregivers who are SNAP participants or eligible for SNAP, and play a key role in planning, purchasing, and preparing food for their families are the target audience. Eat Smart, Live Strong
Senior Audiences English and Spanish Four lessons This intervention encourages more fruit and vegetable consumption and physical activity among 60 to 74 year-olds who are currently participate, or are eligible to participate in SNAP. The intervention supports the efforts of program providers and communities in delivering nutrition education to low-income older adults. Each session in Eat Smart, Live Strong focuses on changing behavior by guiding participants in learning and practicing new skills. |
Eat Healthy, Be Active
Senior Audiences English and Spanish Six (1 hour) workshops These workshops were developed based on the Dietary Guidelines for Americans, 2010 and 2008 Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans. Each workshop includes a lesson plan, learning objectives, talking points, hands-on activities, videos, and handouts. The workshops are designed for community educators, health promoters, dietitians/nutritionists, cooperative extension agents, and others to teach adults in a wide variety of community settings. |
